Super Eggs Benedict

Super Eggs Benedict

S: I was excited to try out this recipe, as Eggs Benny is probably my favourite breakfast dish out there. [D: mine too, that or corned beef hash] David and I make it occasionally, but it’s usually a bit more work than we’re willing to put into a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. D: sleep more important] I’ll give this recipe a 8.5/10. There’s much to love about the recipe, but there’s a couple of things I would tweak for the next time we make this meal. Devils Double Chocolate Malt Cookies

Devils Double Chocolate Malt Cookies

D: Cookies! This is a reasonably simple cookie recipe that turns out far better than I’d have expected. The goal is to end up with a chewy and chocolatey (but not sickeningly rich) cookie. They turned out very well, not overly sweet. I tend to favour something like a ginger snap, so they had to grow on me a bit, but I would definitely make them again [S: I agree with David. The first few bites were eh for me, but after that, I could eat all the cookies I could get my hands on]. [Makes 24, 40 minutes +...…

Irresistible Pork Buns

Irresistible Pork Buns

S: Yay bao! OMG I love bao. [D: me too] I’ve never made it in my life… though that does sound surprising. I can’t say anything else but wow. The directions as per usual are all over the place, but the end result is the tastiest thing I have eaten, that was made by mine and David’s hands. I’m quite proud of what we made, as it definitely looks and tasted like restaurant grade food. I’m proud of it, and I’m ok with tooting my own horn right now. We worked hard for this, and it was delicious. [and I...…

Milk Tart

Milk Tart

D: This week we’ll be doing another recipe from Comfort Food, but we’re going with a dessert this time; mixing it up a little bit. This is a reasonably straightforward one, a pretty simple custard tart. The gist is, that it’s a milk custard tart with a hard caramel top [S: in other words… a really big creme brûlée, without the torched sugar]. [Serves 10] Ingredients: Pastry: 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold) 1 large egg 1 splash of milk pinch of salt Filling 2 1/2 c reduced...…

Polish Pierogi

Polish Pierogi

S: This week we’re jumping to another Jamie Oliver cookbook: Jamie Oliver’s Comfort Food. We’re sticking to dinner foods, as we’re craving some din din. We also decided to test his theory on how long it would take to make this recipe, as nobody that we know, believes it’ll take only one hour and forty minutes. They expected much longer, and they were most definitely correct. [D: 1 hour 40 my ass, maybe if you’re Flash, or Superman] [Serves 2] Ingredients: Dough 2 large eggs 1 3/4 cups sour cream [D: most of this is going into the sour cream...…
