D: Steph continuing with the rum drinks. Me… violating the plan and doing something outside of The Home Bartender and doing a Polar Bear. Largely because I’ve been craving Polar Bears lately. Can’t go wrong with a mint and chocolate shot (a Polar Bear tastes like a Peppermint Patty.. so good.. so good). So we’ll see how the Privateer is, and confirm again that Pep flavoured booze is amazing.
HIS DRINK: [Polar Bear]
Ingredients:
- 1 part creme de cacao
- 1 part peppermint schnappes
- 1/2 part vodka
Needed items:
- Shot glass or other small shooter glass
Pour vodka, creme de cacao and peppermint schnappes into a shot glass or another small shooter glass. Drink, it’s a shot, just drink the thing.
HER DRINK:
[Privateer]
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lime
- 1 part coconut rum
- 3 parts cola
- 1 lime wedge (garnish)
Needed items:
- Highball glass
Squeeze the juice from the lime into the glass.
Add ice as desired. Add rum and cola.
Stir.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
Verdict:
Polar Bear:
Well, basically, it’s a Pep Peppermint Patty, in shot form. It is quite sweet, but so is the candy. Very well mimics the flavour, and is extremely delicious. The vodka helps to kick it up a little but, you could go a little heavier on the vodka to maybe bring the sweetness down a tad. As expected, super tasty.
Privateer:
D: I actually thought it tasted great, I was quite surprised. I mean, it does kind of taste like sunscreen and cola (coconut sunscreen, of course); but it was really impressively good. I’d drink it.
S: Coconut sunscreen and cola. Delicious though.
